Patriotic Proud

Celebrate freedom at the "Patriotic Proud" event on Thursday, July 2nd (10:00 AM – 1:00 PM) at 235 N 4th Street, Steubenville. Enjoy music, games, an auction, a 50/50 raffle, and a lunch of BBQ chicken, sides, and strawberry shortcake. Wear your red, white, and blue for a chance to win a $25.00 best outfit/hat prize! Tickets are $5 for members and $7 for guests; RSVP by June 25th at 740-520-0120.

A&B/Diamond Pharmacies, SouthernCare  Hospice and Our Place have come together to offer a bingo open to the public 60+ to enjoy a breakfast and play bingo for 1 hour to start their day.  Born to Bingo is the 4th Wednesday of each month.

Supporting Those With Parkinson's 

A Parkinson’s support group meeting at the Our Place of Jefferson County Activity and Resource Center in Steubenville highlighted resources available to patients and caregivers in the Tri-State area. Speakers from the Parkinson’s Foundation of Western Pennsylvania discussed the region’s higher rates of Parkinson’s, local support groups, and programs such as exercise classes designed to help manage symptoms.

Boxing program to help Parkinson’s symptoms, build community

Research suggests that exercise can be beneficial for individuals who suffer from Parkinson’s Disease, a degenerative disorder of the nervous system that can affect a person’s movement and balance.

According to the Parkinson Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, recent studies emphasize the need for regular exercise in managing Parkinson’s symptoms.

Local Parkinson’s disease group learns about evolving brain therapy

Members of the Our Place Parkinson’s support group learned about a newly approved therapy offering more consistent symptom relief. A progressive neurological disorder, Parkinson’s occurs when brain cells that create the chemical dopamine stop working. Dopamine is integral to coordinating the body’s movement, and a deficiency can cause various movement-related symptoms, such as tremor, stiffness and trouble walking or balancing.
